What do I need to get started?
If you don't already have one, first buy a domain name. A typical '.com name costs $10-15/year at GoDaddy.com (but feel free to use the vendor of your choice.) If you're not sure what name to get, we can discuss this as part of our initial branding consultation.
Once you have your domain name, you'll need to know what you want to say. If you don't already have your home page, about page, and other copy written, it's time to start working on it! We'll review this with your as part of your initial consultation. If you'd like help with writing your copy, please talk to us about purchasing copywriting services. Marco's hourly rate for copywriting is $65/hour.
How long will it take to create my website?
Typically a new design takes 2-4 weeks to complete. It depends on how clear you are on what you need. For example, if you already know what colors you want, or if your copy written, that can speed things up. Custom jobs tend to take longer because we need to do more planning.
Is a logo included with your custom styling?
No. Our custom logos cost $295 for a text-based logo and $695 for a graphic logo.
If you already have your own logo, we will integrate it as part of your website's design. If you have a logo, but you think it needs some sprucing up, please talk to use about purchasing custom design services. Our hourly rate for graphic design is $60/hr.
What technology do you use for your websites?
We build most of our websites using the popular, open-source Drupal content management system (CMS).
The beauty of a Drupal-based site is that it can be made as simple as a single home page with a contact form—or as complex as an entire membership platform serving thousands of users. Drupal is currently in use by such prominent organizations as the White House, Best Buy, Tesla Motors, Mensa, and The Onion magazine.
Our Drupal platform allows you to login as an administrative user in order to edit or create new pages; add blog posts or news updates; respond to comments left by visitors; add new products and manage orders; etc. In other words, you get to manage your own site—and we'll show you how.
Please note: We can also, and often do, build websites using Wordpress or Dreamweaver. We choose the technology based on what makes the most sense and will be easiest for the client.
If you prefer to have us manage your website for you, we offer an hourly-rate service that costs $75/hour. (1 hour minimum/billed monthly.)
